Duties: Charge EntryRepresentative will be responsible for the day–to-day data entry function.Representatives perform preliminary review of super bills to determine that sufficient data is present for processing.

1. Position Competency and Knowledge of Essential Job Function.

2. Apply monies received from patients to patient accounts in practice management system.

3. Serves as a resource for staff and assists with technical questions/ issues, and

demonstratesworking knowledge.

4. Works closely with staff and the Central Billing Office to identify barriers to productivity and develop solutions to remove those barriers.

5. Remains current with knowledge of the charge entry process. This includes computer systems, reimbursement concepts and procedures, confidentiality, compliance, HIPAA issues, and other relevant regulations. Serves on committees and in work groups, and actively pursues educational and professional development training that supports the position.

6. Policies and procedures: works with the patient to ensure that policies and procedures are in place that consistently provide high quality work. Observes the need for new policies and procedures, or revisions to policies, and recommends needed changes to the Manager. Assures Department compliance with policies and procedures.

7. Complies with Inland Hospital Hand Hygiene Standards.

8. Adheres to Inland Hospital Standards of Behavior.


1. High School Diploma required with a higher education preferred.

2. Demonstrated ability to lead and work well with a diverse team is essential.

3. Must have a proven record of excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

4. Excellent and efficient interpersonal and customer service skills.

5. Produces accurate and high quality work.

6. Self-starter, independent worker, problem solver.

7. Approachable from the staff's perspective.

8. Able to identify and implement better business practices.

11. Familiarity with CPT and ICD9 coding systems and medical terminology highly desirable.

14. Demonstrates and maintains professionalism at all times.

15. Open listener and welcomes new ideas/suggestions.
