POSITION SUMMARY: Assist with rooming patients; floating between any/all EMMC's primary care and specialty care practices in the Medical Group, both on and off campus.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

· Certified Medical Assistant requirements: Graduate of a two-year Medical Assistant program and certified by the AAMA. Certification must be maintained while employed at EMMC.

OR

· LPN requirements: Active Maine LPN license in good standings or eligible for licensure

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1 year experience required. Must possess leadership skills, flexibility, and strong clinical skills, organizational & teaching skills - work with providers and staff to promote safe and efficient patient care.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERED: Experience in outpatient physician practice setting.

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Immunization administration, vision and hearing screening, ECGs, ability to obtain accurate vital signs and patient histories. Competent in use of computer software as well as EMR (Cerner and Centricity preferred). Must be comfortable working in both primary care and specialty care settings as well as working in a floating capacity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Flexibility, dexterity, visual acuity, hearing acuity, able to work sitting at work station, using keyboard, working in front of a video display monitor, moderate walking throughout facility. This individual must be able to lift approximately 15 pounds unassisted. Reaching and stretching intermittently are required for assisting patients in the ambulatory setting. The CMA must posess the degree of total body strength and flexibility necessary to assist patients with transfers and mobility. The CMA must be able to lift approximately a 200 lb patient with the help of several other health care workers. Patients are assisted in ambulating from the waiting room to exam rooms and back. Portable 02 tanks are lifted onto racks from the floor to stretchers or wheelchairs. The CMA must possess the degree of respiratory volume and upper body strength to perform CPR and other patient care treatments. They must be able to stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from supply carts and to bend to reach equipment stored below the waist.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Busy, often stressful, ambulatory setting providing direct patient care to all age patients.
