Job Details Summary
Responsible for planning and managing the human, material, equipment and fiscal resources for areas of responsibility and accountable for developing action plans to contribute to the organization's ability to carry out its mission and accomplish annual pillar goals.
Provides direction and leadership for the Department of Pharmacy clinical services,, manages standardized clinical pharmacy programs to optimize efficacy, safety and cost effective use of medications. Works collaboratively with the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Operations Manager to develop, implement and maintain progressive and best practice health-system pharmacy services. Responsible for the planning and management of Pharmacy Clinical initiatives to include staff development and management, policy development and management with a focus on safety, quality and best practice. Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health-care professionals. Participates in Eastern Maine Medical Center and Eastern Maine Healthcare System pharmacy related committees, task forces and system meetings.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
A. Responsible for assuring that all staff meet competency requirements.
B. Committee work that promotes the safest use of medications in the most cost effective manner.
C. Collaboration with managers within EMMC and within EMHS for development of Best Practices regarding Medication Management.
D. Management of Drug Formulary to include best practices, safety, cost, and appropriate utilization.
E. Management of Student Rotations and Educational experiences.
F. Annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
To include (5) Clinical Pharmacist Specialists, (1) Quality and Metrics Specialist, (5) Medication Reconciliation Technicians.
G. Ensures EMMC compliance with all applicable regulations for pharmacy services including Board of Pharmacy, State licensure, Medicare COP, OSHA, and The Joint Commission standards.
H. Assists Director and Operations Manager with development of departmental strategic plan and goals.
I. Develops maintains and communicates departmental policies and procedures consistent with EMMC Mission and Vision statements.
J. Assists Director and Operations Manager with development of the departmental operational and capital budget and operates the department within the authorized budget as measured by the actual monthly budget performance reports.
K. Assists with the development, implementation and on-going assessment of relevant performance improvement and quality initiatives consistent with EMMC, regulatory and governmental requirements.
L. Cultivates a culture of safety, accountability and fosters opportunities for pharmacy staff development.
M. Overseas standardized clinical pharmacy programs to optimize efficacy, safety and cost effective use of medications.

State of Maine Pharmacist License
B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D. required; PGY1 Health-System Pharmacy Practice residency
5 years hospital pharmacy experience - OR - PGY2 clinical specialty residency plus 3 years hospital pharmacy experience required (equivalent experience will be considered);
Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification - required; Advanced degree (i.e. MBA, MHA) - preferred; Three years leadership experience - preferred.

Other Skills
Must have demonstrated skills in making decisions with visionary and independent judgment and be able to work effectively with a variety of board, managerial and professional personnel. Must have knowledge of pharmacy policies, procedures and regulations. Must have knowledge of State, Federal, local, and OSHA rules and regulations and accreditation (ex. URAC, TJC) requirements. Must be able to maintain expert pharmacist skills while effectively coordinating and supervising other personnel. Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with physicians and physician groups, nursing management and nurses and other allied health professional. Must demonstrate experience in coaching, mentoring, and training staff. Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs that will meet the needs of acute care.

Physical Requirements
Light to medium carrying up to 50lbs., straight pulling/pushing, reaching in all directions, stooping, walking long distances, standing, sitting, repetitive motion/finger activity for sustained periods of time, speaking, hearing, moderate phone contact, visual activity, long periods of working on computer.
