Job Details Job Summary:

The EMHS IS Project Manager (IS PM) will serve as a highly visible liaison between the business, clinical, and information systems areas of EMHS. The individual will possess solid knowledge and experience in applying established project management methodology. The IS PM is able to quickly understand existing and new business requirements and processes, and to develop and lead feasible project plans for moving the organization forward. The IS PM plans, manages, and executes projects of varying scope, size, and complexity and coordinates efforts to ensure any cross-team, cross-functional collaboration activities and dependencies are addressed for the success of each project. The individual will ensure effective management of key stakeholder expectations, particularly ensuring successful engagement of staff affected by approved changes, throughout the entire project lifecycle. Serves as an EMHS change agent, focused on implementing changes to business processes, systems and technology, while maximizing the desired, measurable project outcomes and results.

Job Functions and Duties
:

Professional PM Leadership

- Embodies and demonstrates the EMHS Mission, Vision and Values in behavior, practices and decisions. Serves as an exemplary role model; acts as a trusted advisor for assigned teams.

-Develops robust program and project plans to support and implement strategic, high priority organizational efforts..

-Works on moderately complex, multi-disciplinary assignments and develops innovative approaches; contributes to the development of new ideas and concepts. Effectively interfaces with a broad range of customers and stakeholders.

-Provides leadership to build cooperation across work streams and foster understanding; drives teams forward to meet agreed upon outcomes and measurable results.

- Performs work without extensive managerial direction; exercises self-governance while developing initiatives and guides teams to desired final outcomes.

Project, Program and Portfolio Management

-Responsible for the end-to-end project management life cycle including concept definition, design, development, execution, controls, deployment, and benefits realization.

-Develops baselines for scope, schedule, milestones, critical path analysis, requirements, resources, cost, and risk/issue management. Leads project corrective action and/or recovery efforts.

-Elicits, analyzes, translates, manages, documents, and communicates project requirements.

- Responsible for meeting scope, schedule and budget for all assigned projects and provides cost effective process and/or software solutions to meet information requirements.

-Analyzes, develops, and implements clinical and non-clinical process improvements.

-Coordinates, collaborates, communicates, and facilitates activities across affected areas.

-As applicable, ensures external consultants fulfill their tasks and deliverables within agreed upon engagement scope and budget.

-Prepares presentations, white papers, and management reports as requested; ensures information is readily available for reporting, communications, and further analysis.

-Documents lessons learned and key artifacts from each project for purposes of planning, estimating, and executing future initiatives; includes knowledge transfer from all external consulting engagements.

-Regularly prepares project status reports/updates for sponsors, customers, and identified stakeholders to keep them informed of project status, decisions, risks, and related issues.

Collaboration and Organizational Change Management

-Works with EMHS and member organization functional leaders (HR, Finance, IS, Communications, clinical leadership, operations specialists, etc.) to recommend and integrate organizational change management activities into project plans; formulates specific implementation tasks.

-Educates and mentors team members and leaders in PM methodology, processes, best practices, and support standards, as needed.

-Maintains solid working relationships with operational business owners and leadership; secures buy-in and support for proposed changes to their respective areas of responsibility.

Education and Experience

-Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required; graduate degree a plus.

-At least five (5)years of related project management experience.

-PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) required or obtained within 12-18 months. . At least 1 year experience in healthcare project management preferred. Proven track record of meeting project objectives within defined parameters required. Experience leading multiple projects or major projects from initiation through project closeout.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Experience with moderate to large scale organizational change efforts and project management in an information systems environment.

-Understanding of information systems and operating environments, health care delivery systems including inpatient services, ambulatory, ancillary, and physician practices, and related principles and practices, usually gained through advanced education.

-Able to work through project issues with Project Executive Sponsors, Project Owner, and Project Team members.

-Provides PMO support and mentoring to non-PMO project leadership.

-Assists with data gathering and general PMO reporting.

-Good workflow mapping skills and rudimentary knowledge of EMR Applications.

-Able to effectively influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.

-Advanced emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills in order to successfully design and lead project plans, recommendations development, communications, meetings, and workshops with a range of audiences.

-Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others, and to earn and sustain trust with team members and stakeholders.?

-Able to translate complex data and information, regarding difficult or potentially contentious issues and requirements into clear options, assessments and appropriately tailored work plans and reports.

-Strong organizational, facilitation, negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, time management and planning skills and experience; can develop a strategy and move from big-picture vision to tactical execution through to operational implementation. Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal; excellent active listening skills.

-Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently.

-Work environment requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several parallel projects and adapt to interruptions. Extended time commitment may be required to meet deadlines.

-Must be able to travel to the various EMHS sites (20%) as needed (may or may not apply), in the course of completing project assignments.

-Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office applications(MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project, portfolio management tools).

Supervision Exercised

While not having expressed authority, the IS PM will use strong facilitation skills to lead project teams throughout EMHS.

Receives general guidance and acts independently to achieve established project and program goals.

Organizational/policy impact varies according to project assignments.

Typical Contacts (Internal/External)

Regularly interacts with project team members, sponsors, other leadership, and employees across EMHS at all levels, as well as with external partners, institutions, organizations, and consultants.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work requiring good manual dexterity. Work involves typing, grasping, occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 10 lbs., reaching and ability to move about to accomplish tasks. Require repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers. Must have excellent hearing and listening skills to receive detailed information through oral communication (via telephone or in person).

Environment Requirements


Employee subject to inside environmental conditions. Clean, well-lighted central heat and central air conditioning. The work environment is open layout, very busy and dynamic.
