Job Details Summary
This Assistant position is responsible for patient access to SVH services to include pre-registration, central scheduling and possibly some prior authorizations while providing a high level of customer service to our patients and community.

Responsibilities
•Obtain all pertinent patient information for the creation and completion of a patient's account.
•Enter all pertinent patient data and insurance information into the computer accurately, following our QA guidelines.
•Schedule all outpatient appointments via Cerner accurately and professionally.
•Answers incoming calls using proper telephone etiquette per SVH's Service Excellence – providing customer service to patients, routing calls appropriately or taking messages.
•Confirm upcoming patient appointments on a daily basis.
•Act as a liaison to all departments and personnel.
•Document in the patient's chart all appointments and any information received from the "referred to" provider's office.
•Check schedule's at least 24 hours in advance to allow for changes/contacting patients.
• Utilize continuing educations, seminars, professional publications and hospital in services to remain current in profession.
•Pre-register outpatient admission
•Perform job within allotted time frames, using safe behavior and utilization of appropriate resources.
•Understand and follow individual, department and hospital responsibilities to meet corporate compliance obligations.
•Participate in annual In-service education.
•Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
•Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate.
•Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
•Other duties as requested by Manager.


Education: High School diploma, or equivalent. Post-secondary preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology or completion of medical terminology course preferred.

Experience:One year in a healthcare setting preferred; At least two years of customer service, insurance knowledge, computer skills, switchboard, or multi-phone system, skills preferred. Appointment scheduling experience required.

Physical Requirements
Repetitive motion daily; some pulling; some lifting up to 15 pounds; a lot of sitting throughout the day.
