GENERAL DESCRIPTION/MISSION STATEMENT
: The Resident Clinical Coordinator is a professional nurse registered in the State of Maine who supervises and coordinates all nursing activities on a unit for provision of 24-hour resident care. Must demonstrate initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for residents with varying needs. Must demonstrate a genuine interest in geriatric nursing with preparation and training in such areas as geriatric, rehabilitative, geropsychiatric nursing. Demonstrates preparation, training and interest in management and principles of supervision. Demonstrates emotional stability and maturity with the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all levels of personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
:

1. Collaborates with charge nurse to assure assessment of the needs, problems and/or concerns of the residents.

2. Evaluates the outcome of nursing care rendered.

3. Collaborates with charge nurses to assure 24-hour coverage for nursing care.

4. Facilitates communication between staff, resident and family.

5. Maintains resident and staff confidentiality.

6. Participate in department quality improvement activities.

7. Comply with mandated hospital and department education programs.

8. Accept responsibility for professional growth and development.

9. Support Risk Management and Infection Control programs.

10. Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of the TAMC organization.

11. Mentor new employees through the hiring process onward for the development of strong nursing leaders.

12. Evaluates the needs of staff, and supports the work of the floor in caring for patients.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
:

1. Performs other work related duties as assigned.

May include:

1. Assist with admission process (care plans, verification of orders, immunizations, med reconciliation, and psychoactive consent forms)

2. Daily review of UDA's to ensure completion in a timely manner

3. Care plan review within 24 hours of admission as required by CMS

72 hour chart checks to be completed in compliance with plan of

corrections

4. Rounding with patients three times a week and as needed when issues occur

5. Rounding with staff at 3pm, to ensure that things are running smoothly

6. Deliver staff meeting information that is important to units (updates, ideas, and concerns)

7. Set unit goals for the floor and monitor improvement, goal should be evolving, start small and continue, new goal quarterly

8. One day a week working from the floor

9. Gives counsel and guidance to Charge nurse concerning unit management and resident care

10. Promotes good internal and interdepartmental relations and public relations.

11. Assists in establishing lines of authority and responsibility for defining the duties of nursing service personnel, consistent with good administrative practices to ensure that department objectives are met.

12. Works closely with other Administrative Nurses to ensure management coverage as well as effective implementation of administrative decisions.

13. Plans, implements, evaluates employee orientation program.

14. Reviews regularly all high risk areas/processes (such as medication ordering, receiving, administering, securing, reconciling medications including narcotics)

15. Periodically reviews all policies and procedures and jobs descriptions, etc. and makes recommendations for revisions.

16. Investigates new products, equipment, and techniques as directed and makes recommendations.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Current Maine Registered Nurse License.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Variable work schedule. Available by telephone to staff for staffing needs/issues which may arise on weekends, holidays, nights when on supervisory coverage.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
:

1. Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Maine RN licensure or license eligible.

2. Successful completion of orientation program for specific area assigned.

3. Successful completion of TAMC certification programs as required by

employment assignment.

4. Certificate in CPR.

5. Good Interpersonal skills.

6. Basic computer skills preferred.

7. Experience is preferred
