POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the review of daily charges from the Radiation Oncology Department and reporting the statistical data to the Therapy Supervisor and Business Manager on a monthly basis. The expectation is to review and correct all errors prior to charges being billed.

Duties to include, but not limited to: primary responsibility to assist the Coding, Denials, Medical Records and Patient Accounts staff with all questions related to charges generated from the Mosaiq clinical system; work closely with the clinical staff to include Providers, Therapist, Dosimetrist, Physics and Nursing; responsible for minimal charge entry in both the Mosaiq system as well as the Cerner system for any charges not entered by clinical staff.

WORK HOURS: This is a 20 hour position with flexible hours with the expectation of 4 hours a day.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Medical Terminology course completion.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2-3 years' experience in medical billing office or equivalent experience in a clinical healthcare setting; Must be familiar with Medicare, Mainecare and commercial payors and their guidelines and regulations regarding billing and prior authorization requirements. CPC certification and/or patient charging and prior authorization experience required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years' experience in radiation oncology practice with cpt and ICD 10 experience. CPC certified through the AAPC. Working knowledge of patient charging system

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and revenue codes. Versed in Governmental and billing guidelines and medication coding and drug information. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels of staff and management. Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented. Must possess ability to review medical records, patient charts and communicate with clinical staff. Candidate must be able to operate telephone equipment, photocopier, fax machine and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook. A successful candidate is able to prioritize workflow, demonstrate successful use of critical thing and problem solving skills. Candidate must exhibit a caring attitude towards patients, coworkers, and other customers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to sit and operate a computer for long periods of time.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to function independently with minimal supervision. A successful candidate would demonstrate workflow prioritization and have high standards for quality and accuracy of work performed.
