Job Details Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of CT, the CT Technologist performs CT Scan examinations by applying diagnostic roetgen rays on adolescent through adult patients in addition to general Radiographic responsibilities. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.



Minimum Qualifications

Education enabling State of Maine license as a Radiologic Technologist and registration with State of Maine Board of Examiners. Licensing with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification Board is required. Prior CT experience and/or CT license preferred.



Work Experience and Skills

Experience and on-the-job training sufficient for upgrading to position. Must exhibit flexibility and understanding in dealing with differing physician treatment ideologies and interfacing with other departments. Must have analytical and problem solving skills to interpret patient physical condition, administer appropriate invasive contrast drugs and radiation dosages while treating patients in accordance with physician directives and department protocols. Must have judgment and initiative to act independently in producing consistent, quality diagnostic results with minimal supervision. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to coach acutely ill patient, interact with physicians and all levels of staff and employees. Must be able to explain highly technical information in an easily understandable manner. Must be highly accountable as the incumbent's abilities and actions impact patient care. Incumbent has access to highly confidential patient information.
