Job Details Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager Imaging Services, the incumbent is responsible for the secretarial and reception duties of the Radiology and/or Mammography Departments. The incumbent also acts as a liaison for the Mammography/Radiology departments, physicians, the public, and patients of appropriate ages. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining patient records, transcribing and entering orders into the computer system. The incumbent is responsible for the facilitation of the patient admission process assisting the clinical staff by collecting accurate demographic information. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.


A High School Diploma or GED is required. Post-secondary education. Previous medical experience in a physician's office or healthcare facility preferred. Must be computer literate with keyboarding skills of at least 20 wpm. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, clear communication, and the ability to understand specific instructions. Judgment and initiative to work independently. Must have ability to make decisions regarding priority of work.
